Communities Under Attack
Report for January, 2010

Shower of Blessings in Sderot

On October 29th, 2009 we visited 4 families in Sderot and "Ha-Roeh" Elementary School where we delivered a check for 28,800 NIS to help cover the school book fees for 96 families who could not afford buying them. As we entered the school it started raining, then the sun came out and it was raining in the full sunshine. It was truly "showers of blessing" from the God of Israel. Michael, the Deputy Mayor of Sderot, who had asked CFI to consider helping this school that accepts all kids from the most underprivi-leged families in Sderot, came to meet us by the school entrance and said, "Today we are also re-ceiving a special blessing from heaven. God is blessing us with the rain and you are blessing us with finances to give the kids of Sderot an opportunity to learn and be able to succeed in life." The school principal was delighted to receive this gift. He said that it was the first time that someone who had promised a donation to the school actually came back to him with the donation in his hands. Michael added, "You are truly the people of words and acts, not just words. We are so tremendously blessed by you today!" It was such an honor to be able to show them that Christians truly love Israel not just with words but with real acts of service and tangible support. Smiles on the happy kids’ faces when they were holding their packages with brand new books were the best reward! And I will cause showers to come down in their season; they will be showers of blessing. Ezekiel 34.26

A visit to Maya: she was extremely traumatized during the war. She still has a lot of fears and suffers from a number of negative side effects of stress and anxiety that unfortunately affect her health and everyday life. We hope that we were able to encourage her a bit by our visit and by the financial gift of 2500 NIS. We gave Maya a ride to an appointment with her psychologist who she sees regularly. We prayed for the Lord to heal her and restore her health, and set her free from all fears. The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom, And the knowledge of the Holy One is understanding. Proverbs 9:10

Home Visits

Nadya is working hard trying to raise her two children alone and give them the best educa-tion she can. Whenever she has a few extra shekels she goes and buys books for them. Due to her efforts Nadya’s children are great students. They cope well with stress and anxi-ety that all children in Sderot have become subject to, and they read encyclopedias that Nadya has purchased for their personal education and development. We blessed her with a check for 2500 NIS. But if a widow has children or grandchildren, these should learn first of all to put their religion into practice by caring for their own family and so re-paying their parents and grandparents, for this is pleasing to God. 1st Timothy 5:4

Visiting Daniarov and Malka – We blessed them with 2500 NIS. Both of them have a lot of medical expenses as the result of going through treatment for post traumatic stress dis-order after the war, which is a typical situation that many families in Sderot have to endure. Cast your burden upon the LORD and He will sustain you; He will never allow the righteous to be shaken. Psalm 55:22

A visit to Klara – We visited a family with 7 children who did not want to leave Sderot even during the recent war in Gaza so that "the terrorists will not think they gained victory over Sderot". The mother applied for help at the Social Affairs because she needed clothes for her five year old twin boys. "It is so much money! What a blessing" – she said when she saw the CFI check for 2500 NIS. This family was determined to stay in Sderot even under the most severe circumstances that developed with "Operation Cast Lead". One rocket hit their car and almost destroyed it beyond repair. Klara had to cancel her trip to Tiberias to visit her brother-in-law at the hospital. Unfortunately, he passed away a few days later with-out having seen his family from Sderot. One of the girls in the family was so traumatized that her speech was affected and she wouldn’t talk to anyone for over than a week. Follow-ing the psychiatrist’s strong recommendation, Klara had to pack and leave to Hadera in the north for a month in order to help her child recover from the shock. Praise God, it did help and the girls are back to normal. The king then took an oath: "As surely as the LORD lives, who has delivered me out of every trouble … 1st Kings 1:29
