Implications of War and Terror

FACTS

Israeli warplanes dropped flyers advising Arab families in Gaza City to leave their homes before any bombardment or ground operation took place. Israeli soldiers assisted terrorists out of tunnels, gave them water to drink and bandaged their wounds. While Israel’s IDF is tough and strong, they also have a heart and believe in life and saving lives. Therefore, the truth is, they do all they can to save a life—even the life of a terrorist.

IMAGINE

Envision what your own life would be like if the neighbor across the street began launching Katusha rockets and Kassam missiles into your backyard on a daily basis—sometimes hitting your house. You speak to him, you plead with him, but he refuses to stop. The trauma takes its toll on your family and your private lives, not to mention what it has done to the entire neighborhood around you. But your neighbor has only one thing in mind: to make your life and the life of your family unbearable and painful every day. You have lost sleep, nerves are shot and you cannot cope with life, because now you can’t put a “for sale” sign in your yard. No one wants to live like you do—plus you don’t have enough financial resources available to leave and begin life over elsewhere.

LIGHT AND DARKNESS

During the Gulf War we experienced missiles falling in different places around Israel and we had about 60 seconds to get to our sealed rooms after the siren sounded. The people in Sderot have only 15 seconds to take cover. We believe the Jewish people have shown the world much light in their lives while living with much darkness around them. Israelis embrace a culture of LIFE because they care about people and want the best for them. While their enemies believe in death, they go on embracing life. Israelis have been condemned for defending their nation, but all they want is to live in peace. As a Christian friend of Israel, I hope that our Christian friends around the world will help us be a blessing to Israel during these difficult days. Israel needs our help more than ever before. Won’t you please help?
